A Busy, but Good Day
I was a little late to class today, because I was emailing my friend that had gotten engaged! YAY! :) But, here we get a 10 minutes grace period, so 3 minutes was no big deal. At the beginning of class, she handed back our 3rd quiz. 10/10! Whoo! I hope that will offset how horrible the midterm went (I am still waiting to see my grade). Class was very frustrating and I'm at the point were I'm not sure if I will ever understand this language : / Surely, in 8 weeks, I will get there. As of today I have 60 days left until I return home, and honestly I don't think I'm going to want to leave. However, I am looking forward to the things I took for granted in the US (peanut butter, fruits, Yoplait yogurt, milk, cereal, eggs, mostly peanut butter).
Don't worry I am still consuming ice cream at least 5 days out of the week :) Our mom told us that students have gained 20 pounds in 2 months before. Due to this, and that fact that every time I take the stairs I run out of breathe, I started exercising last night. Of course, I wanted to be hardcore and do it all and like 50 of everything. Bad idea. I am so sore today and will most definitely be taking the day off. When I told Pupi that I had exercised, she once again informed me how "flacita" Lea is and how I am going to look like her. So funny.
After class we took a trip to Museo Evita. This museum is dedicated to
the life of Eva Peron, who is one of the largest icons in Argentina. She
was the first lady during the presidency of Juan Peron starting in
1946. It was a great guided tour and I learned so much! I would
encourage you to look up the story of Evita, as it is very interesting.
It definitely made me understand why the politics here are so important.
Still to this day, she is a loved/hated icon by many in Argentina. Her work focused on the people and she was considered a feminist. This created much
controversy during her life. She still lives on after her death at the age
of 33 due to cancer. Here is a good, brief biography of her:

Funny story #3: While sitting in class today I learned the difference between the words "perezoso"-lazy and "peligroso"-dangerous. It was quite the experience considering that on Sunday I continuously told our mom that I was just going to be very "peligroso" all day long. Lea would laugh and Pupi would get this scared look on her face. Lea thought it was so funny when I had this very big realization in the middle of class, when she knew what I was saying and meaning all along. What a pain!
That's all for now! I have a big presentation tomorrow that I better start rehearsing for :)
Thanks for two good laughs today:
ReplyDelete1) I made you 3 minutes late to class...thank goodness it wasn't any more than that or I would feel bad. But not too bad because I know how excited you are! YAY!
2) You being "peligroso" all day...HAHAHAHAHA! You've got to love those! One of my favorites was when my little brother was trying to act out "verguenza." That one took a while! :)
