MAMMA MIA!

So yesterday I had my written final and honestly it was so hard and there was no way I could focus on school anymore. So, we went shopping! Of course I bought more than I should, but I did get this 100% leather jacket that is red. I love it! The fashion here is so awesome and the clothes are much cheaper than at home. After spending about 3 hours shopping the streets of Cabildo, we came home to prepare for Mamma Mia!

MAMMA MIA! WAS AMAZING!! I have no idea why I thought that it would be in English because I am in Argentina, but I was soon shocked to realize that it was all in Spanish (even the songs) IT ROCKED! The culture here is more direct and they are very good at expressing themselves, which played an awesome role on the stage. It was so full of passion and the voices were breathtaking. I wish I could put into words the way I felt as I sat there in amazement, but I don't think I can. Just trust me when I say I was speechless (not something that happens often).

When we got out of the teatro, we walked to the Subte station, which we found out was closed. When I looked at my clock it was 11:00 pm. I had no idea it was that late. As we walked back to the teatro to call a cab, I realized I really was on cloud 9 after watching the show, because I had not noticed how the "crowd" on the street changes after a certain time of night. From the teatro we caught a cab home. Our cab driver was named Mariano and it was a very good time to practice our Spanish. We learned that after 10 pm (when the Subte stops running) the taxi rates are double. The meter goes by distance and my minutes. He has a daughter that is 6 years old and he was a very nice man. Pupi was very worried that we were home so late. She then made us pizza and made us go to bed. :)

Today was my oral exam and I thought it was a piece of cake. My written was not as bad as I thought (81/100) and I passed the class with a 9/10. I start my new class on Tuesday, so I have a 3-day weekend! All of the Summer 1 people are leaving tomorrow and I am going to miss them all. No more Lea :( I am getting a new roommate that is also from Nebraska and actually studies at the same school as Lea. I am anxious and nervous to meet her. Pupi says it will be different, but we will adjust. Not much going on this afternoon. I think I will just relax since I have no homework or studying to do. Oh! We are going to a tango show tonight at Cafe Tortoni, which is very original to Argentina. I will post on that tomorrow!

Hope all is well! Miss you all!

  1. Emily,

I finally sat down long enough to read all your blogs. Sounds like you are having a wonderful time. I would love to be there with you learning Spanish though I'm not sure I would do as well. Love your stories and pictures. How awesome to see Mama Mia live in Argentina! Be lazy not dangerous:) and be sure you learn to Tango!
