El Tigre!
Today we
took a day trip to El Tigre, which is another province of Buenos Aires. It was
so beautiful and very hard to explain using words. We boarded the train at 9
this morning and it was about a 45 minute ride until we go to the port. From
there we walked until we got to the dock where we took a boat tour of El Tigre.
It is located north of Buenos Aires and is the islands in the delta. Since they
are just of islands, many people only live there in the summer and then leave
for the winter. They only use boats to get around and most of them do not own
cars. How cool! The kids take a “boatbus” to school and the grocery stores are
just boats that come to your house, dock and ring a bell. You then go out and
get on the boat and do your shopping. It was so fascinating. It is also
beautiful and on the port there are a ton of paseos (markets). We spent about
three hours sightseeing and shopping around. It was a great place to buy
souvenirs and they were not that expensive. They had a ton of stuff that was
very unique to Argentina as well as things that were “Made in China.”

After that
we got on a bus that took south towards the city and had a nice relaxing snack
and tea on the river at San Isidro. This place was gorgeous and there were many couples
frolicking in the grass. We learned it was a very romantic place at sunset ;)
This was an awesome place to take pictures and one guy even got in the water.
YIKES! The weather was only about 60 degrees today and I wore a sweater all day
long. I can’t imagine how cold the water was, but he said it wasn’t too bad!

Crazy Paul in the water...Hace muy frio (When we showed our mom, she was astounded and went off about how crazy he was for doing that. lol) |
From here we
got back onto the bus to take us back to the city. Since there is a big soccer
match between Argentina and Ecuador today, traffic was crazy and it took us
about 1 hour to make it back. We were
all exhausted so we came home to relax before dinner. We also have a ton of
homework for the weekend and lots of studying to do. Tomorrow we are going to
the Fería de Matadores, so there won’t be much time to accomplish much. I hope
all is well with everyone! I love the emails and comments I get from home...keep them coming :)
